Note Wars

Found in the kitchen this morning.

It reads:
Note1: This is dirty and unsanitary to the rest of the users of the kitchen. It has been sitting here all morning since 7:30AM. this is not home you need to clean up.
Response:
Hi kitchen users,
My apologies for leaving my dirty dish soaking here today. It is now cleaned.
FYI, I use a soy cheese that bakes onto dishes VERY hard out of the microwave, and it is very nearly impossible to clean immediately -- I have actually broken fingernails trying! So I really prefer to let it soak for an hour or so -- even though I realize this is not the proper kitchen protocol. I do my best remember to come back for it, but today it took a little longer than usual.
I appreciate your understanding.
I think a not would be appropriate if this was an ongoing unresolved situation, but I have not noticed that unwashed dishes are a frequent problem. I find that people are very good at being respectful of others in this kitchen area, and applaud everyone for reusing dishes and avoiding costly and wasteful disposables.
Your note states that the dish was "unsanitary" to you and other kitchen users, which I don't understand. Inconsiderate and inconvenient yes -- but unsanitary? I don't think germs from the bowl can jump up from it onto your dishware or onto your food, and there was a drop of anti-bacterial soap in it. I do not believe it would endanger anyone's health!
If this situation occurs again, either with the dishes I or anybody else leaves behind that have become objectionable to you, I would be happy to fill the role of "kitchen monitor" and swing by to wash any miscellaneous items. (Within reason of course, as everyone should still be washing their own things!)
